This class explains what negotiation is and identifies the basic principles of negotiation. Additionally, it identifies the tangible benefits of negotiation and explains distinct types of negotiating tactics. You will be introduced to two types of negotiations and identify the key substance in a commercial negotiation.

Skills and strategies for successful negotiation will be identified and explained, focusing on critical concepts of a win-win negotiation. Utilizing a case study, students will ascertain five steps of negotiation, which include BATNA, Reservation Price and ZOPA. The importance of body language and personality types will be reviewed.

Ann Cyphers

Ann Cyphers is president of Cyphers Brokerage Associates, Inc., an Atlanta-based commercial real estate firm. During her 30-year career, she has successfully negotiated and closed hundreds of leases and sales transactions. Ann has been a licensed instructor for 25 years teaching prelicense, broker, post license and continuing education courses.

Ms. Cyphers accomplished NAIOP's (National Association of Industrial and Office Property Owners) Million Dollar Club membership and Atlanta Commercial Board of REALTORS® Million Dollar Club. Ann has served on the Board of CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women) as Vice President of Community Affairs and received CREW's Development Deal of the Year Award 2004 and CREW's Shining Light Award. Ann received Ackerman & Company's Landlord Representation Award and has been featured in the Atlanta Business Chronicle's "Who's Who" List. Additionally, she has served on Dorey's advisory board and the board of Progressive Redevelopment, an Atlanta based affordable housing developer. GREEA (Georgia Real Estate Educators Association) recently awarded her The Outstanding Career Award.
